About Us

The Lake Tekapo Bright Stars Community Trust was formed to oversee the development of the Aorangi Crescent site and Guild Hall building for the long term benefit of the Lake Tekapo community. It is a registered charity.

The current trustees are Andrew Macdonald, Anna Roseingrave, Lyn Martin, Matt Murphy, Penny Wilson and Vic Howes.

The land at 4-5 Aorangi Crescent was gifted to the Presbyterian Church by the Scott Family for the benefit of the Tekapo Community. The legal owner of the property is the Presbyterian Church Property Trustees who now hold this land in trust for the Mackenzie Co-operating Parish. Approval has been granted by The Mackenzie Cooperating Parish, Alpine Presbytery and Presbyterian Church Property Trustees for the front half of this land to be developed for the purposes of Early Childhood Education in Lake Tekapo. A long-term lease agreement is being finalised between the Parish and the Bright Stars Trust.

A working party of parents, community members and school representatives has been active in supporting a number of fundraisers and brainstorming ideas for future funding.

The Lake Tekapo Playgroup operates from this facility two mornings per week. The South Canterbury Kindergarten Association provides a mobile kindergarten service 2-3 days/week from this facility. There is the possibility of other services utilising this facility; for example; after school programmes, holiday programmes, non-profit activities and/or the facility being expanded/developed if needed.
